The Powerful Hero

FANA TRI PRIHATINI

A teacher is a figure who plays an important role in the educational process. A teacher is someone who provides teaching, learning and guidance to students at school. The definition of a teacher relates to the concept of education, which involves the role, responsibilities and qualifications of an educator.

One definition of a teacher is an individual who has adequate knowledge, skills and pedagogy to provide learning to students. Teachers are not only tasked with giving knowledge theoretically, but also help students develop attitudes, values and interpersonal skills.

As an educator, a teacher also has a main role, namely as a transferor of knowledge. The teacher is a figure with an important role in transferring knowledge. As a teacher and educator, a teacher is responsible for guiding and conveying their knowledge and skills to students. As the main source of knowledge transfer, a teacher must master many aspects, but the most important is the ability to communicate well. Good communication skills will make it easier for students to absorb the information delivered. Teachers must be able to convey their ideas in language that is easy to understand. In-depth mastery of the subject taught is also no less important, because a good teacher must be able to explain the knowledge they convey clearly and in a structured way.

In order to achieve effective knowledge transfer, it is important for teachers to understand the characteristics and needs of individual students. Given the diverse backgrounds, personalities and abilities of their students, teachers must be sensitive to these differences. Given such heterogeneous differences, teachers are required to be creative in designing teaching strategies using different methods, such as group discussions, audiovisual presentations, or learning in direct contact with nature, to suit students' learning styles.

Besides the main task of transferring knowledge, teachers also act as mentors. In this role, teachers must be able to guide their students so that they have the enthusiasm to keep exploring their abilities, help them develop social and emotional skills, and also guide them by giving advice and direction to prepare for their future.

Teachers also provide guidance in overcoming learning difficulties, recognising and converting students' weaknesses, and motivating students to achieve their goals. As time has passed, the role of the teacher as an instructor has evolved. Today, teachers have a main role in developing students' ability to think critically and creatively. Teachers encourage students to always ask questions and to give and convey the information they receive; therefore, teachers do not only teach theories and concepts, but also help develop thinking skills that are relevant to everyday life.

Not only that, as the saying goes, "guru kencing berdiri, murid kencing berlari" (if the teacher urinates standing, the students urinate running). This means that all of a teacher's behaviour will be imitated. As a moral and social role model, teachers must set an example and teach important values such as integrity, cooperation and tolerance, so teachers should behave, dress and speak well. Ideally, teachers should have good morality, so that they can help shape and perfect students' character into a generation with positive attitudes and a sense of responsibility.

Being a teacher cannot be taken lightly. This profession demands great responsibility, high patience, and the ability to adapt to various situations. For a teacher, the main task is to provide good education and build positive relationships with students. However, the challenges a teacher faces are not limited to that. One of the main challenges of being a teacher is the ability to manage the classroom.

A teacher must be able to create a conducive environment for students so that they can learn well. This involves the ability to manage time, give clear instructions, and maintain discipline in the classroom. In addition, a teacher must also be able to handle the various individual differences in the class, both in learning ability and in behaviour. This requires a teacher to have different learning strategies to meet the needs of each student.

Another challenge is coping with the high pressure and expectations from society. A teacher is often regarded as a figure with an important role in shaping the nation's next generation. Therefore, teachers are often perceived as unsung heroes. These high expectations can put great pressure on a teacher to deliver the best results for their students. In addition, teachers are also often faced with various responses or criticism from students' parents. They must be able to deal with criticism wisely and build harmonious relationships with students' parents.

In addition, technological development is also a challenge for a teacher. In this ever-developing world, technology increasingly influences the way students learn. A teacher must be able to use technology effectively in the learning process in order to stay relevant and be able to adapt to the times. These challenges include online learning, the use of educational software, and the use of the internet to broaden the range of learning resources.
