LEARNING BARRIERS ARISE FROM STUDENTS' INTERNAL PROBLEMS
Education is a conscious effort to prepare learners, through teaching, instruction or training, for their roles in the future. Education is important for children, adults and society. Education gives people knowledge about the world around them and changes it for the better. It develops a person's outlook on life and helps shape views and visions about the various things in life. National education has the function of developing abilities and shaping the character and civilisation of a dignified nation, enlightening the life of the country, and developing the potential of learners so that they become people who have faith and devote themselves to God Almighty. People who are of noble character, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and who become citizens who are responsible and democratic.
The learning process is one aspect of an organised school environment. This environment is framed and arranged in such a way that the learning process moves towards the goals that have been set. However, in the learning process, learning activities are not always successful, and students often face failure or learning difficulties. Learning difficulties arise because students are unable to connect new knowledge with old knowledge, resulting in misunderstanding or unclear lessons. Learning difficulty is a condition in which an individual experiences difficulty in carrying out learning activities. Many things cause individuals to experience difficulty in learning. Learning difficulties are not only related to an individual's level of intelligence but also because the individual has difficulty in mastering learning skills and completing the tasks that are given.
Learning activities are important and must be carefully considered to ensure that students can understand and absorb the subject matter to the fullest. However, in reality, obstacles and problems often arise in learning activities, making it difficult for students to achieve optimal learning outcomes. The condition of the student's environment greatly influences their learning activities. If a student's learning environment is not comfortable, it will certainly become an obstacle to learning. Therefore, the learning environment must be made as comfortable as possible so that learning can be optimal. Being in a supportive environment will greatly help students in understanding and studying the material. However, if all of these things have been done well and students still experience difficulties in the teaching and learning process, then the problem may lie with the students themselves. In addition, the factors that can hinder students' learning are not only the conditions and the learning environment but also the students' own internal factors. Internal learning factors are factors that originate from within the learners themselves, including the learners' biological, physiological and psychological conditions, ranging from interest, talent and intelligence to learning motivation and practice. Barriers to learning that originate from the learners themselves are indeed difficult to overcome, because the only ones who can change them are the learners themselves.
In learning activities themselves, personal motivation is often manifested in the form of resilience or persistence in learning, sincerity in paying attention to the content of the subject, sincerity and patience in doing homework, and so on. However, this does not happen with students who experience learning difficulties. Such students appear unable to endure studying for long, are less serious in paying attention to the course content, are bored, are less serious in doing assignments, and show a lack of concentration in learning. The characteristics of students who experience learning difficulties can be identified from several traits in the form of habits or behaviour in daily life, speech and language, as well as intellectual ability and school achievement. This means that a student's tendency to experience learning difficulties is seen from their cognitive thinking skills, their daily attitudes at school, and their skills or behaviour when taking part in learning, practice and study activities.
Learning motivation can be observed in students' interest and attention in lessons, their enthusiasm and self-confidence in completing learning tasks, students' responsibility in carrying out learning tasks, expressive reactions to the stimuli given by the teacher, and students' emotions: joy and satisfaction in carrying out learning tasks. Motivation is very important because a person who is not motivated to learn will not be able to carry out learning activities. Every change is always driven by motivation. For example, learning is influenced by an individual's motivation to learn.
Based on the above statements, it can be concluded that motivation is very necessary because a person who is not motivated to learn will not be able to carry out learning activities. Every change is always driven by motivation. For example, learning is influenced by an individual's motivation to learn. Motivation is needed by individuals to achieve learning goals , especially academic success.
