Summary of PLP Activities at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta

RANI WULANDARI

The School Field Practice (PLP) at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta began with our deployment by the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL), which marked the official start of the activities. After the deployment, we coordinated with our respective mentor teachers to discuss the activity plan, the division of tasks, and schedule adjustments during the PLP.
We spent the early stage of the PLP observing lessons in Grade X with the Chemistry teacher. Through this activity, my friends and I gained a direct picture of the learning strategies, the characteristics of the students, and the dynamics of the teaching and learning process in the classroom. We also took part in the briefing on preparations for the Mid-Semester Assessment (ATS) and helped supervise the ATS in several classes. During the ATS period, we regularly attended the morning briefing and tadarus (Qur’an recitation) with the teachers every morning, and then helped mark the exams and enter the students’ grades under the guidance of our mentor teachers.
Besides academic activities, we were also actively involved in various other school activities. We took turns doing Teaching and Learning Activity (KBM) duty with the teachers about five times during the PLP. We also took part in the 5S duty (Senyum, Salam, Sapa, Sopan, and Santun: Smile, Greet, Say Hello, Be Polite, and Be Courteous) in front of the school in the morning, which was done in rotation with the other PLP students. In religious matters, we helped the teachers organise the students for the congregational Friday, Zuhr, and Asr prayers, which are held routinely every day. For female students who were excused from prayer, there was a keputrian (girls’ religious session), and we also led this session twice during the PLP. In addition, we accompanied the students in Al-Qur’an tadarus twice a week, which is part of the religious habituation at the school.
We also participated in various school events and commemorations of special days, such as the ceremony for the Birth of Pancasila Day, Batik Day by wearing batik clothes, Reresik Day by directing students to clean their classrooms, and Language Month, which featured a curriculum seminar, the 7KAIH Movement, and competitions among students. We also took part in the commemoration of Youth Pledge Day together with the teachers and students.
In the academic field, I had the opportunity to teach four times in class X E2, under the guidance of my mentor teacher. In addition, we occasionally replaced the mentor teacher to teach in Grades XI and XII when he or she was unable to attend. We also accompanied the laboratory practicum in Grade XII, helping the mentor teacher guide the students so that the practicum ran in an orderly and effective manner.
During the PLP, the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL) also visited the school to hold discussions, evaluate, and share experiences about the obstacles and progress we faced during the PLP. The end of the whole 45-day PLP series was marked by the withdrawal by the DPL, which was the closing moment of the PLP at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta. Overall, this PLP gave me a very valuable experience in understanding the school environment, improving my professional skills as a prospective educator, and fostering a sense of responsibility, discipline, and cooperation in the world of education.
