Summary of Internship Activities at SMAIT Raudhatul Ulum Sakatiga

Faizah Afifah Anniasiyah, a student of the Chemistry Education Study Programme at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, has successfully completed an internship at SMAIT Raudhatul Ulum Sakatiga, Palembang. The internship lasted one full month, from 15 July to 15 August 2024. It focused on supporting and guiding high school students in writing scientific papers (KTI).

The field work activity (KKL) began on Monday, 15 July 2024, with the school's opening ceremony for the new academic year. The next day, the student met the school principal and the institution to discuss the internship plan. The main focus of the internship was to accompany grade 12 students in writing their KTI. The students were divided into subject groups (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Social Studies) to find topics and finalise the titles of their KTI.

During the internship, the student took an active part in every stage of the pupils' KTI writing, helping to write Chapter I and searching for relevant studies on 20-22 July 2024. On Monday, 29 July, several groups then carried out experiments, such as making aloe vera extract and processing biodegradable plastic (first trial). Other groups began designing questionnaires to validate the learning media they had made. The student accompanied the validation of the learning media with the first and second validators, then summarised their responses on 3-4 August 2024.

 On 7 August, the student helped to improve the learning media based on the validators' suggestions and checked the level of plagiarism using Turnitin. The final experiments, such as testing the resistance of aloe vera extract against mosquito mortality and the drying process of biodegradable plastic, were carried out on 9-10 August. The final touches, the plagiarism check and the writing of the papers for all groups were completed on 12 August 2024. The culmination of the internship was a presentation rehearsal on 14 August and the Scientific Paper Presentation by all grade 12 groups in front of the examining lecturers on Thursday, 15 August 2024.
